Position Overview

Are you a creative storyteller, design enthusiast, and tech-savvy marketer ready to bring big ideas to life? As a Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Innovation Depot, you’ll play a key role in showcasing the stories of Birmingham’s most exciting startups.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, innovation-focused environment where your work will directly support the growth of Birmingham’s tech ecosystem. You’ll play a vital role in creating impactful content, designing compelling visuals, and managing digital campaigns that highlight the success of our community. What You’ll Do
  • Bring Stories to Life: Create and schedule engaging content across social media platforms to highlight Innovation Depot’s programs, events, and community success stories.
  • Craft Campaigns: Assist in developing email marketing campaigns that inform, excite, and engage our audience.
  • Design with Purpose: Create graphics, flyers, and signage for events, promotions, and internal communications using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Enhance the Digital Experience: Update and optimize content on our website, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing user experience.
  • Develop Brand Voice: Write and edit content that reflects our brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels.
  • Support Internal Communications: Draft newsletters, announcements, and other materials to keep stakeholders and members informed and engaged.
  • Make an Impact: Help tell the stories of our member companies and their successes through blogs, social posts, and video content.
  • Innovate Events: Collaborate with the team to promote and elevate Innovation Depot events that bring our community together.
  • Learn & Grow: Support video editing and content production tasks, sharpening your skills in platforms like iMovie and more.
What We’re Looking For
  • Creative Spark: A knack for design, content creation, and visual storytelling.
  • Digital Enthusiasm: Familiarity with social media platforms, Canva (or similar tools), and basic video editing software.
  • Attention to Detail: A commitment to producing polished, high-quality work.
  • Team Player: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity & Drive: A hunger to learn, grow, and make an impact in the tech and startup community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with email marketing tools like HubSpot or Mailchimp.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is a bonus.
